President Nicolas Sarkozy deported some 700 Roma gypsies in August. He gave this excuse: the Roma camps have become bases of people-tracking, prostitution, and crime. Critics think Sarkozy wants to distract people from the allegations of corruption that have been buzzing around his administration. C'est un probleme partout dans le monde.
